The passion behind BBS Graphix began straight
from school. Starting out as a mechanic and quickly finding
his way into motorsports, David Kemplay - founder of BBS,
was soon working as a race mechanic on Formula 1 - BRM, Jaguar
MK II 3.8, and Le Mans E Type racing cars. Due to his persistence
and fastidious drive for perfection in quality of workmanship
- David secured himself a position with the crew at the Monte
Carlo Rally. In the following years, he embraced Rallying
to its full by working with the likes of Ford, at the British
Rally Championship. To this day, David is still firmly planted
in racing as a Team Manager for one of Renault Clio's winning
teams (TOCA).
The concept for BBS Graphix began in the mid 1980's when David
identified a distinct need for a more professional approach
to motorsports graphics. Rather than the historical method
of simply adding pre-made, mass produced sponsor logos - as
and when, David felt there was something missing. Out of his
love for motorsports and a natural artistic ability - the
obvious thing for him was to take a step back and create an
overall design. Combining graphics, the client requirements,
and his own creative flair - BBS culminate a final result
a step ahead of the rest. The roots of BBS originated within
the motorsports arena, however as their reputation, and client
requirements have grown - BBS gradually expanded into a more
diverse and corporate environment.
